High-level action for road safety
Secretary-General Young Tae Kim highlighted ITF's work towards the creation of regional road safety observatories at the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile's (FIA) High-Level Panel for Road Safety in Paris, France, on 1 October 2018. European Union Commissioner for Mobility and Transport, Violeta Bulc, and José Luis Irigoyen, Senior Director for Transport and ICT, at the World Bank joined Mr Kim in providing insights on the Panel's work since its launch in 2015.
Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris and C40 Chair, hosted the group at a reception at Paris' town hall prior to their seventh meeting. President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, hosted the Panel members at an evening reception.
The FIA High-Level Panel for Road Safety was established to engage both the public and private sectors to build much needed new momentum for road safety actions in low and middle-income countries. It brings together senior decision-makers from the global business community, international institutions and non-governmental organisations to find innovative solutions to address the global road safety challenge.
