ITF Secretary-General Young Tae Kim held a bilateral meeting with Zainal Arif Mantaha, Singapore's Ambassador to France, at the Singapore Embassy in Paris, France (photo) on 4 June 2019. Young Tae Kim and Ambassador Mantaha exchanged ideas on Singapore’s transport priorities, the value ITF can bring to the region as the only global multi-modal transport intergovernmental organisation, collaborations with other ASEAN member states, as well as Singapore’s new Jewel Changi Airport.
Singapore, although not a current ITF member, participated in the ITF Annual Summit as a guest country at Ministerial level in 2014 and 2017. Chong Meng Tan, CEO of PSA International, a leading global port group with operations in Asia, Europe, Middle East and Latin America, is also an active participant in the ITF’s Global Maritime Logistics Dialogue meetings and the ITF Annual Summit. Mr Tan was a keynote speaker in the Open Ministerial Session on Governance for Global Transport Connectivity at the 2017 ITF Annual Summit. The Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) has participated in various recent ITF events. LTA has accepted ITF’s invitation to participate in a meeting on road safety in June 2019.
Since his election as ITF Secretary-General in 2017, Young Tae Kim has sought to achieve greater representation of ASEAN countries in the ITF’s membership and activities.
