Fourth Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety - Leveraging Data for Road Safety: Advancing Strategies, Policies, and Monitoring Progress
09.00 - 10.30 (UTC+1)
Ministerial Auditorium
Achieving the UN goal of halving road deaths and serious injuries by 2030 requires a data-driven approach. Dominique Mignot, the Chair of the ITF/IRTAD Group and Université Gustave Eiffel, will introduce the topic and emphasize the significance of critical data in identifying road safety challenges, shaping strategies, infrastructure improvements, and law enforcement. The session explores the role of Regional Road Safety Observatories in bridging the gap between data and policy, ensuring informed decision-making at the regional level. It also examines how emerging technologies—mobile devices, AI, and big data—transform road safety data collection and application. Through collaboration between governments, the private sector, and civil society, the discussion focuses on enhancing data sharing for more accessible and actionable insights. Special attention is given to effective data collection in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and the role of Regional Observatories in advancing data-driven road safety policies.
