Transport Ministers Agree Groundbreaking Policy Recommendations
In a historic first, the transport ministers of the 69 ITF member countries today agreed on groundbreaking policy recommendation on road safety and on the use of AI in transport at the ITF Annual Summit in Leipzig, Germany.
Chile's Minister Juan Carlos Muñoz, who chaired the Council of Ministers, called the documents a "highlight". This is the first time ever that the ITF has agreed policy recommendations, Muñoz said in the press conference following the Council of Ministers of Transport: "This is great news."
"These are broad documents that provide general policies that could be adopted, and which could enlighten the way transport policies should be implemented in each country", Muñoz said.
Developing the recommendations had allowed us to "include the observations, comments and contributions" from many countries, Muñoz added. "It tells us a lot about how multilateral dialogue can contribute to moving forward."
