The International Transport Forum is excited to announce the second edition of the ITF Journalism Award “Transport and Mobility in Latin America.” Building on the tremendous success of the inaugural edition, we once again invite journalists from across Latin America to submit their outstanding work covering transport-related topics of relevance to the region.

We were thrilled by the response to last year’s award, which received 86 entries from 34 cities in 14 countries, representing 69 different media outlets. The diversity and quality of submissions highlighted the importance of transport and mobility issues across Latin America.

About the Award

The ITF Journalism Award “Transport and Mobility in Latin America” is presented by the International Transport Forum (ITF), an intergovernmental organisation with 69 member countries and a part of the OECD family. The ITF is the only global body that covers all transport modes, facilitating global dialogue to improve transport policies and enhance lives.

Our Latin American member countries currently include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Mexico. This award is a testament to our commitment to recognising and encouraging excellence in journalism that highlights crucial transport and mobility issues in the region.

What You Can Win

The winner of the second edition of the ITF Journalism Award “Transport and Mobility in Latin America” will be invited to attend the 2025 Summit of Transport Ministers as our honoured guest. The ITF Secretary-General will present the award during a special ceremony at the Summit, which will be held from 21-23 May in Leipzig, Germany.

The theme for the 2025 Summit is “Enhancing Transport Resilience to Global Shocks”. The award winner will have the unique opportunity to present their work to an audience of global leaders, including ministers, CEOs, and top academics, and engage in high-level discussions and networking events.

How Entries Are Evaluated

Entries for the second edition will be evaluated by a distinguished jury of ITF and external transport experts and communication professionals. Journalists are encouraged to submit their work that was published in Spanish, Portuguese, or English between 1 January and 31 December 2024. Journalists who are based in the region and work for multinational outlets are encouraged to apply. The jury will assess entries based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance: Does the entry effectively link policy issues with the lives of people in Latin America?
  • Balance: Does the entry present the issue in an accessible yet comprehensive manner?
  • Originality: Does the entry offer a unique perspective or an unexpected approach to the topic?

We look forward to receiving your entries and continuing to celebrate journalistic excellence in transport and mobility in Latin America!
