ITF maritime research showcased at major events
ITF ports and shipping expert Olaf Merk presented the recent ITF report on The Impact of Alliances in Container Shipping at the European Social Sector Dialogue for Ports, held on 7 November in Brussels, Belgium. Participants in the dialogue included representatives from trade unions, ports, terminal operators and representatives of the European Commission.
The ITF organised a side event at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Intersessional Working Group on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Strategy in London, UK, on 17 October. The event presented findings of a paper on the state-of-the-art of modelling approaches on the economic country impacts of GHG policies for shipping. The paper builds on the findings of the ITF Expert Workshop on Economic Impacts of Carbon Pricing in International Maritime Transport organised by ITF and CPLC (Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition) in Paris, France on 8-9 January (photo). The paper was presented by its author, Ronald Halim, followed by a discussion with Tristan Smith (University College London) and Olaf Merk.
