Regional High-Level Dialogue for Asia
ITF Meeting
03:00 - 12:00 CET (09:00 - 17:00 UTC+7)
ITF Secretary-General Young Tae Kim leads ITF's first-ever high-level dialogue for Asia. The Secretary-General's regional high-level dialogue initiative aims to bring ITF closer to the world regions, increase ITF’s visibility, and strengthen global collaboration.
The event aims to identify opportunities and concrete actions in Asia that will lead to more sustainable, resilient and inclusive transport. It focuses on sharing priority policies, best practice knowledge and effective measures to accelerate the transition within the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The initiative also raises awareness of rising local and regional air pollution, congestion, emerging mobility services, digitalisation, road fatalities, and global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The event sessions specifically focus on Southeast Asia, covering highly-relevant topics for the region, like transport connectivity, inclusive and safe transport, low-carbon transport, and digitalisation.
Discussion outcomes are carried forward to the ITF 2023 Summit, the seventh session of the ESCAP Committee on Transport and other global and regional transport events in 2022 and 2023. Results also guide the development of an evidence-based policy framework in Asia.
The ITF currently has eight member countries in Asia and seeks to continue to expand its scope of work and presence in the region.
