Transport and Covid-19: responses and resources

Calgary XVI World Winter Service and Road Resilience Congress

ITF Secretary-General Young Tae Kim speaks at this session, which introduces work carried out as part of the ITF Decarbonising Transport initiative. This project helps governments and industry translate climate ambitions into actions. The session first explores how building greater resistance to Covid-19 can help governments develop climate resilient pathways to prepare for future distruptions to the transport sector. The session then focuses on the upcoming technology transition, reviewing current policies and market trends in low-carbon vehicles, and potential challenges that need to be addressed to ensure a resilient technology transition. Finally, the session touches on heavy-duty road freight, one of the most challenging modes of transport to decarbonise, with a presentation on recent ITF work on technology and policy pathways conducted with policymakers and industry.
